The smartphone have two sensor EIS (Electronic image stabilization) and OIS (optical image stabilization).
These are the advanced image stabilization mechanism. Both help is to capture stunning, picture-perfect, and blur-free images. We will compare two technology and understood about is mechanism.

What is image Stabilization (IS)?

 Image stabilization is a mechanism that helps to capture images more accurate, less shaky, stunning, and blur free pictures. It adjusts camera movement or vibration by manipulating the image and reduces camera shake.

About Electronic image stabilization

As the EIS system monitor the image electronically, EIS system are compact in size. EIS system does not add any bulk to the lens amd it does not need any physical movement, as all lifting occurs electronically. On the downside, as it magnifies the image electronically, the image resolution is decreased and its quality may degarde.

As we know, EIS makes a picture more accurate and less shaky by controlling image stability. It works in two ways. 

Firstly, it increase the image size then the system scans image to counter the movement by shaker or vibration.

Secondly, It use the oversize CCD. As the video image covers only 90 percent to the chip area, there is space available to move the image. If the image shakes to one side then there is a space on the other side of the image, which back the image and eliminate the shaky images quality may be degrade because of  cutting and capture small area image. So EIS sensor here work like this.

CONCLUSION

When it comes to stable and blur-free images and videos, image stabilization are not a must-have feature, as stabilization can be achieved with the help of a tripod or any grip. User will still have to keep camera steady to get better results.

About Optical image stabilization

Optical image stabilization is a mechanism used to stabilize the captured image by varying the optical path to the sensor. The OIS system works before image hits the charged couple device ( CCD). It does not require the ISO sensitivity. It uses the smartphone gyroscope sensor to assist in detecting camera shake. 

In OIS system, the lens suspended over the camera module using springs and electromagnets. It uses the sensor to measure the movement of camera shake then according to shaking it moves the camera lens in opposite direction of the shake, which recenter the image on chip. It primarily improves low light photography.

In short, OIS mechanically moves the camera sensor to reduce the shake.

CONCLUSION

We can say that, when it comes to low light photography and videography, OIS is the must needed features. It helps us to take stunning photograph. But, as OIS uses mechanical parts, it may fail when using for a long time.

As per uses choosing EIS or OIS?

If user priority is videography Then, EIS should be primary choice as it works better with moving pictures.

And, User priority is photography Then, you should go for OIS it takes better photography in low light condition. They give a high quality bulky image as compared to EIS.
